Among the Hungarian human rights organizations, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee is the most active litigant before the European Court of Human Rights. Our attorneys have represented applicants before the international court in more than 30 cases already closed; their success rate is around 90%. While most of our cases concern detention and ill-treatment, we continue to discover new arenas to litigate. We successfully represented applicants in cases concerning dismissal of public officials without justification, and violation of the right to name of an old widow.
